Founded by St. Dominic in 1216 A.D., Dominicans have been preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, rooted in truth and love, for over 800 years! The lives of countless individuals and families have been touched by Dominican Friars. As a mendicant (begging) order, we rely on you, our friends and benefactors, to support the preaching, teaching, educating, and evangelizing mission. We would not be able to do this important work without you. Your generosity is essential to the preaching, forming new friars, and taking care of those in limited service. The Province of St. Martin de Porres

The worldwide Order of Preachers (Dominicans) is organized into provinces. Our province, the Province of St. Martin de Porres (Southern Dominican Province), is home to 80 friars. Founded in 1979, we are headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, and serve in wide variety of ministries such as:
 

• campus ministry
• parish ministry
• Catholic schools
• seminaries, colleges, and universities
• itinerant and preaching missions
• evangelization
• hospital and prison chaplaincy

In an area encompassing eleven southern states, we minister to the needs of people in every stratum of society – rich and poor, young and old, and all walks of life.  As mendicant friars, we depend on the generosity of our benefactors to ensure that the Dominican charism of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the salvation of souls continues in our own day among the people we serve.
