In the times of Jesus, there was the expectation of the return of the prophet Elijah, who was going to be the forerunner of the Messiah and would prepare the people for the ultimate kingdom of God. And then came Jesus, the Messiah. There were signs, but humanity did not recognize those signs, there were forerunners, but they were destroyed; there were prophets, but they were rejected. Are we doing the same today with all the signs of the love and mercy of our God among us because we are too much concerned with wealth and prestige?

As we are entering the week before the Christmas celebrations, may the splendor of the glory of God shine in our hearts, and may the advent of our Lord help us be children of light and carry that light of Christ to all that we meet.
